Top 15 Hockey Websites
Now matter how good BuiltForHockey is, there’s a ton of websites out there on the Internet that are doing something differently and are definitely worth a look. It wasn’t easy making a top 15 list of our favorite hockey websites, but we’ve finally completed it. Keep in mind these are our favorites based on their interesting content and their surrounding community. I’m sure some of you will disagree with our choices, so if you have any other great hockey websites you follow, leave a comment below.
The rankings are based solely on the opinions of BuiltForHockey.com , and are in no particular order.
1 – Hockey-Community
The Hockey-Community is the first social network created for hockey players around the world allowing them to connect, chat, but most importantly find substitute players for their respective teams. Finding a last minute call-up for your weekend beer league has never been easier. With a great community and an ever-so-practical mobile app, this Vancouver based website takes the no.1 spot on our list. It was a no-brainer.
2 – Kukla’s Korner
The go-to blog for all our hockey updates. With their team of talented hockey bloggers, they release timely information around the clock. It’s a one stop shop for everything going on in the hockey world. No need to visit several different hockey sites; Kukla’s Korner has it all covered for you. What’s more, they link to all the most popular blogs & hockey websites out there on the web, taking up our no. 2 spot.
This blog’s amazing name is enough for us to put it at no. 3, but it packs a whole lot more than that. Anything going on in the hockey world that’s funny, ridiculous, or outrageous can be found here. It’s a great place to get a good laugh & learn some interesting stuff that happens behind closed doors in the NHL. Keep an eye on this up and coming hockey entertainment blog…it’s going to be a good one.
4- HockeyShot
HockeyShot is our favorite place to pick up off-ice training products in order to improve our game. They have an amazing selection of training aids and their prices are the best on the net. They have great customer service and are a pleasure to deal with when it comes to placing orders.We’re really happy with the products we’ve received from HockeyShot and the improvements they’ve allowed us to make to our game. We recommend them and their products to any hockey player looking to get better! You can also check out the short video review we did on their slideboard here.
5- HowToHockey
The guys at HowToHockey have some great articles on how to do all kinds of different skills out on the ice. Their deke of the week series is great for those who need to work on their hands or who need to add that extra move to their offensive arsenal. Not only do they have great articles, their videos are great and provide explanations & walk-throughs of the different dekes.
Coach Nielsen’s blog is a must read for anyone looking for new drills to practice out on the ice. Coach Nielsen has put a lot of time and effort into making his blog one of the best compilations of hockey drills on the web. Flow drills, one on one drills, power play setups, fore checks, you name it. It’s all there. Definitely the go-to place for the best on ice drills.
Another great site for those of you looking for hockey specific training drills. Jeremy Weiss is known throughout the online hockey community for his tremendous knowledge of the game and he definitely knows what he’s talking about. He’s got loads of good stuff up on his website to help all types of players be the best they can be. Go take a look for yourself, you won’t regret it.
In the off-season, it’s always fun to take part in some good old street hockey. This website has everything you need to know about playing on pavement from taking care of your rollers blades to which are the best socks to wear. Keegan of Schoolyard Puck has a tremendous passion for the game and it shows all throughout his website. He also provides a lot of tips on equipment management as well as a new section dedicated to on-ice hockey.
Kim McCullough is the go-to girl for women’s hockey related training. Heck, men need to check out her site too! She has loads of great information with regards to off-ice and on-ice training. Check out her articles section for an impressive list of interesting and well written posts. You’ll learn quite a bit!
10- Backyard-Hockey
Winter is coming and temperatures are dropping. That means one thing for hockey enthusiasts; It’s just about time for some pond hockey! This website has everything you need to know about building your very own backyard rink and everything to go with it. They even go as far as showing you how to build your own homeboni, a mini zamboni for your rink! If you ever wanted to ride the zamboni, here’s your chance. Check it out!
11- Hockey Monkey
Hockey Monkey is one of the leaders in online hockey merchandising, and for good reason. They have hard to beat prices and their return policies are great. Sometimes it’s just cheaper to get equipment online. Make sure you check your local stores first though, as it might not be worth it to order online. But you can definitely save some cash by purchasing via Hockey Monkey at times. They also have discounts regularly, along with a new deal every single day. Definitely worth checking out.
The largest online forum to discuss everything from the NHL Teams to Juniors to College Hockey to High School Hockey to Youth Hockey, all in one place. Other features also include Hockey Equipment Reviews and a Marketplace to sell your old hockey gear for free. Find hockey rinks, hockey stores, and hockey camps near you and read what other users have to say about them. An overall tremendous website for hockey enthusiasts.
13- NHL.com
What kind of top hockey website list would this be without the presence of NHL.com ? The best resource for valid and timely updates on everything going on in the NHL. This one is pretty self explanatory. Need I say more?
14- InGoalMag
For all of you goalies out there, this is a great website dedicated to covering every inch of goalie specific information. From tips & advice to interviews with top goalies & goalie coaches, this is a definite bookmark for aspiring goalies. There’s even a huge directory of different goalie mask designs used by goalies in the NHL.
15- HFBoards
HFBoards is a hockey forum dedicated to everything hockey related, including sections for individual teams, different leagues, and even coverage of fantasy hockey. If you want to voice your opinion, here’s the place to do it! Interact with other hockey enthusiasts who share the same passion and love for the game!
